     CDI conducted an institutional study to support Programme 135 of Committee of Ethnic Minorities for the next phase
    The study aims to review Flexibility, Responsiveness and Decentralisation and Local Relevance in P135-III Management and Implementation. The study, conducted from April to July 2010 included review and assessment of 7 inter-related management approaches with the purpose to suggest strategic solutions to enhanced effects, responsiveness and local relevance of P135 interventions in its next phase. The 7 approached are; 1. Result based management and incentive systems 2. Evidence-based resource allocation 3. Demand driven approach 4. Regional approach 5. Participation mechanisms for engagement beneficiaries and other local stakeholders in P135 decision-making 6. Coordination mechanisms between and within components, and horizontally and vertically between agencies 7. Delegation of regulatory authority to enhance relevance of regulations to local context.
     
      PROJECTS
     Promoting migrant workers’ rights in labor and social protection in Vietnam

    Since June 2011, Center for Development and Integration started a new project for migrant workers in industrial areas of 4 provinces in the North Vietnam: Hanoi, Hai Duong, Bac Ninh and Vinh Phuc with the funding and support of Oxfam in Vietnam (funding fromj Oxfam Novib and Oxfam Solidariteit). The project aims to contribute to social justice and support the implementation of labour and social protection rights in Vietnam. The project’s purposes are to increase pressure from local actors that reduce violations of labor law, strengthen compliance of decent working conditions and implementation of labour/ social protection rights for migrant workers and finally increase access to social services and social security for workers and their families

     CDI SUCCESSFULLY ORGANIZED BSCI ROUND TABLE MEETING 2011 IN VIETNAM
    On 23 September 2011, The Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) in cooperation with the Center for Development and Integration (CDI) organized the 3rd Round Table Meeting on Corporate Social Responsibilities in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

    BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) was initiated in 2003 by Foreign Trade Association (FTA) with the aim of establishing a common forum about the rules of conduct and European monitoring system of social responsibility of business. CDI also commits itself to promtote CSR and help business implement CSR princiles into the business pracice.

    The CSR meeting 2011 continued to show a good combination between different organizations including policy makers at ministry and local levels such as Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs in Ho Chi Minh City, Labour Federation of Ho Chi Minh City. The business community participated well in the Round Table dialogue including Vietnamese Manufacturer Associations such as Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vietnamese Textile and Garment Association, Vietnamese Leather and Footwear Association), International organizations which work on CSR such as UNIDO, Swedish Trade Council, USAID and Academia such as Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, College of Business Administration for Managers), NGOs and corporate representatives also attended.
