Launched the project on Prevention of Domestic Violence in Ninh Binh province (2010-2011)

On 29 April 2010, the project has been launched in Ninh Binh, with active participation of Ninh Binh provincial departments, Kim Son district and the three communes of An Hoa, Nhu Hoa and Thuong Kiem.
The project titled "Sensitizing Men to Say NO to Domestic Violence". The project aims to reduce and eventually eliminate domestic violence by improving social awareness and provide support in order to change mindset and behavior of both women and men on violence and gender issue, by which, reducing unfair treatment toward women and children and eventually the end of violence in both families and soceity society.

CDI and VLA launched a joint project to promote women's political participation and freedom from domestic violence in 10 provinces
|

The project ““Fostering women’s political participation and Reduce Domestic Violence” aims to address the gender-based violence and improve the deficient knowledge, education and capacity of women, men and communities that reduce the gender-based violence and domination of men in gaining social capital and participating in the society to exercise their social and political rights of women. The project targeted to a pilot in 10/64 provinces of the country including Tuyen quang, Bacninh, Thanh Hoa, Phu Tho, Hoa Binh, Hatinh, Namdinh, Yenbai and ThuaThien-Hue and Binh Dinh, based on VLA/VUCLIC experience in some other province like Ninh Binh and Lam Dong province.
The three main program components are (i) awareness raising using counseling methods (ii) capacity building and (iii) providing legal aid on issues such as women’s rights, the implementation of Convention on Elimination of All forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and relevant national laws ie. the recent law on domestic violence (passed by the National Assembly on 16 November 2007), the Vietnam and grass root democracy decree.

CDI supports Central Committee on Organisational And Personnel in Institutional Reform research
|
Institute of Organisational Science of Central Committee on Organisational And Personnel recognizes the needs to carry the indepth research in globalisation and institutional reforms - International and Vietnam experiences. The first international workshop was organised in 28-29 May 2008. The research aims to acquaint Vietnamese scholars and policy makers with the broader understanding from experiences in changing State management, especially in management and policies on civil servants at globalization challenges. The project also aims to study in depth about development of high quality of human resources including education, recruitment, assessment, management. Norwegian and Nordic and Vietnam experience will be most exchanged.

The Mekong Institute organised “Regional Policy Dialogue on Trade Facilitation Policy Gap Analysis on Cross Border Transport Agreement (CBTA) in the GMS“ in 7-8 April 2008, with the aim to present the research work from GMS countries on CBTA and seek the stakeholders views on the issues. GMS countries participants include government officials, academic and researchers, private sectors actively contributed to the dialogues. CDI joined the Pre-UNCTAD XII Civil Society Forum, Hanoi, 6-7 March 08

CDI joined the Pre-UNCTAD XII Civil Society Forum in Asia was held Hanoi, Vietnam, 6-7 March 2008, under the support of CUTS International. The forum received about 50 CSOs representatives in Asia to discuss the Trade and Development issues, including: Ø Coherence in Global Policy Making (including Regional Approaches) for Sustainable Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Ø Key Trade and Development Issues and the New Realities in the Geography of the World Economy Ø Harnessing Knowledge for Development to Enhance Productive Capacity, Trade and Investment Ø Strengthening UNCTAD – Enhancing its Development Role, Impact and Institutional Effectiveness
